The goal of this Alliance with Wyoming OSHA is to promote, communicate, educate, and train employees and employers to ultimately reduce the fatality and injury rate in the Oil & Gas Industry.
The WOGISA Alliance has assisted the OSHA Division in several ways, one in which, providing communication and support to update and enhance the Wyoming’s Oil and Gas Rules and Standards. Numerous changes to the Drilling rules were passed in 2012 and the beginning of 2013 which included Flame Resistant Clothing (FRC) and Emergency Shutdown Devices for Diesel Engines. This was a major success for the industry and the Division in the goal of protecting employees. During this calendar year, 2013, the Division has met five times with the industry to continue the proposed rulemaking regarding the Well Servicing Rules. These proposed rules included FRCs, emergency shutdown, hot work permits, emergency communication, eyewash stations, requirements for air tuggers, written fall rescue plan, emergency descent devices, and new H2S requirements just to name a few. WOGISA played a major role with the continuous lines of communication. The Alliance members and the OSHA Division met to discuss and assist in developing these new requirements to the servicing standards. This interaction will continue next fiscal year for the Special Servicing Rules.
